As I was updating the roster page I noticed something. We currently have 10 players on either the 15 day or 60 day DL and they are currently collecting 28.2598 million dollars. Most notably our top 3 money makers (Jake Peavy, Brian Giles & Chris Young) are on there. So I was curious as to how much our active 25 man roster is making. I don’t have the amounts for Banks, Burke, Webb, Alfonzo, Lobaton & Blanks but will assume they are all making around the league minimum of 400,000. That gives us a total of 14.7756 Million dollars going to our current roster. Yes I am sure I did not forget a number in there and yes I did add that up right….14.7756 Million dollars is being paid to the whole 25 man team. To help visualize that a bit better there are 24 players in the league who are making more than that by themselves & Alex Rodriguez already made that much this season 9 games ago. Like I previously stated there is over 28 million being shelled out to players on the DL right now which is almost double the amount going to the 25 man roster. Of course with Ecksteins current injury one more player might be on the DL soon and would also give them 6 of their top 10 top earners on the DL (1. Peavy 2. Giles 3. Young 4. A. Gonzalez 5. Bell 6. Eckstein 7. Blanco, Correia & Floyd 10. Rodriguez). It’s a crazy season indeed.
